Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) can now file for clients in the Supreme Court, having registered its own Advocate-on-Record (AOR) firm after the shared AOR firm of the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas was reconstituted.
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas AOR (CAMA) came into existence through a 26 September order of the Supreme Court registrar.
For CAM the AOR firm replaces Suresh A Shroff & Co – the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas’ AOR firm headed by Shardul Shroff, which was reconstituted after the split between the Shroff brothers for Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas on 10 May.
Former Poovayya & Co Delhi litigation head and partner Sumit Attri, who is a qualified AOR, shares equity in CAMA with CAM managing partner Cyril Shroff, who is also a qualified AOR like his brother Shardul.
Attri had left Poovayya in May of this year, having joined as litigation head in April 2014 after a 12-year-long independent practice since graduating from Symbiosis Pune in 2002, confirmed Attri. He also had a short stint with Suman Khaitan & Co as consulting partner.
Poovayya did not respond to an email for comment since yesterday.
CAM Delhi’s litigation practice now has seven salaried partners, one partner designate and 21 associates.
The Suresh A Shroff & Co firm was one of the highest volume AOR firms in the Supreme Court before the break-up.
A Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) spokesperson commented in an email: “After the separation with Mr Cyril Shroff, Mr Shardul Shroff is filing in his own name as he is registered advocate on record for the last 30 years. Mr Shardul Shroff is a sole proprietor practicing in his own name.”

Do the partners of high profile AOR Firms or Sole Proprietors who area also partners or otherwise associated with well known Corporate Law Firms attend the Court regularly?
Kian I highly doubt u will publish this owing to your loyalty towards CAM. But let our voices be heard yaar.
And most are worried as Delhi is going to be favoured over Mumbai.
But also heard Cyril no longer takes these decisions, but someone BEHIND Cyril influences the same (what's that about BEHIND every successful man there is a.....?)
"SOMEONE from BEHIND", who's capability has been equated with running CAM and CAMA as a local Baniya shop, not an institution.
