The market is getting really exciting. The talk is CAM is hiring her, but question is will she also stay for a couple of years and leave. Will Cyril ask her to contribute to equity and treat her worse of than the people in Mumbai and create circumstances where there will be more bitterness in the Delhi Office. Whatever will become of the MNK folks in CAM Delhi- they are quite senior. Then there are several random people who operate like many small firms under the CAM banner. Heard SAM is doing better and been able to retain folks. CAM is struggling- Nirav Modi, CBI, partners leaving at all points of the year.... Cyril-bhai what's really happening, Rishab- [...], what are you doing? Will you ever lead or will it be a non-Shroff as your CS has mentioned.

Which batch is Ms. Gunjan Shah (member of the management commitee), compared to others? Self explained.

The number of comments the news of Akila's departure has generated is the same as the news about K Law. Clearly, she isn't in the same league as Aswath. The comments when his news broke crossed 100 in a couple of hours!!

AA is a truly exceptional lawyer with a great client book. SAM's loss could be anybody's gain I hear.. she could take a larger role in a firm that offers the opportunity.. believe she is talking to at least two others.. may be a third..

Does this have anything to do with the internal restructuring going on at SAM?

It will be unfortunate if she leave SAM for CAM. CAM is in shambles. Practically- NO WORK.

Also, I doubt her capability on taking away clients from SAM. Her client were mainly the givings of SSS.

She surely is a good lawyer. But for a Parter you need to be a rainmaker. She surely is not one.

SAM has already filled Akila's absence as the inside news is that SAM has already finalised a very senior and reputed lawyer as equity partner in Delhi office who will be joining with own team and books. Wait and watch to know the name. Official announcement will be made very soon next month. Seems no loss for SAM.

Didn't expect that SAM will so quickly find a strong replacement and as per the talks within SAM, a senior partner is joining Delhi office with his/her own team and will be heading M&A. There's a bigger news stored in for all of us than Akila's exit.

It's a business for partners and senior partners to move from one firm to another especially when a firm is a family oriented firm and one can't rise beyond a certain level. AZB and Khaitan are more structured that way. But certainly SAM still remains SAM which is the most known and popular overseas as compared to any other law firm in India. Even SAM had taken away the star partners from.other tier-1 firms. It's all business.

Why so much secrecy about it...definitely has to be someone who has either stronger or at least as strong books as Akila and certainly the experience otherwise her exit is a big blow to SAM.

So many contemplations - Who knows the truth. But SAM will have to fill her space. Will they take a partner from AZB. CAM must be dreading the loss of another partner if taken by SAM. The remaining partners in SAM will have a good time as SAM cannot afford loss of another senior partner in near future.

All big firms must be trying to retain their senior partners so that they don't lose them to SAM now. Her exit is certainly a good news for other senior partners;) & more than her exit, the wait is to watch who will be replacing her in SAM!!!!

SAM corp team needs a leader with more independent exposure and experience. They hardly have anyone other than the ones born and brought up there with no independence and little exposure outside the world of SAM. Seems it a family store with two-three munshis assisting the family.

Sam's silence will be followed by breaking news which will put rest to all the contemplations. Wait & watch guys! News is leaking out.

All these speculations are a waste of time. Everyone will eventually get to know about Akila's team and the new firm she's joining and her replacement at SAM. Until then just chill and let her team breath.

Six month gardening. AA is growing flowers while awaiting her shorter commute to Saket. Okhla will soon be a thing of the past.

After so much of hungama, complete silence. Is SAM not able to rope in other big names in Delhi after what happened with Akila? Certainly a big blow to SAM.
