Bangalore-based disputes and conflict avoidance boutique G-Droit Advocates, founded by NLU Jodhpur alumnus Gautamaditya, has added former partner of Lawcept Partners, Aravind Mokkapati, as its first non-founder equity partner to expand the firm’s practice into corporate.

Mokkapati commented: “[At Lawcept] for all the litigation matters there we used to engage Gautam Aditya. Because my personal practice is entirely based in Bangalore and Hyderabad, it makes sense to join our practices.

“Most of my practice will surround the start up sector and lots of funds based in Bangalore and Hyderabad.”

NLUJ 2009 alumnus Aditya added: “[We’re] expanding because Aravind Mokkapati has a lot of expertise in his area and my clients are seeking more than just litigation assistance.”

Before the addition of Mokkapati, G-Droit’s practice included litigation, dispute resolution, dispute preemption and conflict avoidance.

A 2011 alumnus of NLUJ, Mokkapati joined start up Lawcept in 2015, the same year it had been founded, after ending his in-house stint with Mahindra & Mahindra, which he had joined after graduation.

According to his profile, he had been advising Mahindra’s automotive, electric vehicle and racing businesses and worked on cross border deals, including mergers, acquisitions and distribution contracts; negotiated over 350 contracts with raw material suppliers from India, Germany and South Korea; strategised and prepared arguments in civil, criminal and arbitration cases in India, U.S. and Belgium, and provided legal opinions on export control laws relating to Iran, Sudan and Myanmar as well as labor laws in India.

Having joined G-Droit to build its corporate commercial practice, Mokkapati practices in Bangalore and Hyderabad and advises new ventures, SMEs, funds and incubators and accelerators in Mumbai, Bangalore.
