Nitya tax boutique realises Bangalore aspirations, opens office under ex-Deloitte Sreekumar Nair

Indirect tax boutique Nitya Tax Associates has opened an office in Bangalore and added former Deloitte associate director Sreekumar Nair as associate partner to head the new office.

A team of three Nitya lawyers, including Nair, will operate out of a co-working space in Bangalore’s Workafella Business Centre.

A Nuals Kochi 2010 alumnus, Nair had stints with Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan (LKS) and Economic Laws Practice (ELP) before joining Deloitte Bangalore in January 2018.

Nitya currently has two other offices - in Delhi and Gurgaon, in addition to Bangalore. The Bangalore office would serve the need of proximity to local clients, said managing partner Puneet Bansal.

Bansal commented: “We wanted an office to be in Bangalore, it was an aspiration for quite some time. We keep looking out for good people who can match with firm’s values [and expand] as and when we find them.”

Bansal started up Nitya in June 2015 after moving on from BMR Associates where he was heading the firm’s indirect tax practice.

The boutique caters primarily to the manufacturing sector, but also to the service sector, he said.

Nitya Tax Associates now has 20 lawyers including 6 partners. The partners include Bansal, Nair, one partner, one director and two associate partners. It also has 20 chartered accountants.
