Mumbai disputes firm MZM Legal has promoted its disputes partner Waseem Pangarkar to senior partner.

A Mumbai University 2010 alumnus, Pangarkar has been at MZM since after graduating. He focuses on international commercial arbitration, cross-border litigation and white-collar crime defense.

His practice covers both bilateral investment treaty arbitration and international commercial arbitration, white collar crime litigation, intellectual property litigation, sports law, general corporate advisory, and family law matters, the firm said.

MZM managing partner Zulfiquar Memon commented: “Waseem is a complete dispute resolution lawyer with great command on corporate, transactional, civil and criminal laws. He is a pillar of the firm and has spearheaded the transformation of MZM to a full-service law firm. Over the years I have seen him evolve as an excellent lawyer and a great believer of investing in client-relationship, a strong platform on which we have built the firm.

“I wish him all the very best in his new role.”

Pangarkar added: “During my time at MZM Legal, I am privileged to have the opportunity of contributing towards the development of the firm’s brand as well as my own. It has been a great experience.”

The firm also promoted associate Chirag Naik from associate to senior associate in its white collar crime defence and criminal compliance and investigations practice. A Symbiosis Pune 2017 alumnus, Naik joined the firm after graduation.

MZM Legal now has 34 lawyers including 9 partners.

It was started in 2005 by Memon, with offices in Mumbai and Delhi and several associate offices.

In 2017, we had reported that the firm had acted for Tata Sons board member R Venkataramanan in a defamation complaint against ousted chairman Cyrus Mistry.
