Aneja (pictured) confirmed to Legally India that he left the firm this week. “I am looking at a more entrepreneurial role,” he said but declined to comment further before his next move was finalised.

Aneja focuses on corporate, M&A and private equity work and had worked at Luthra & Luthra until April 2005 as a senior associate before he joined FoxMandal for four-and-a-half years.

“I wish him all the best and good luck,” said Luthra & Luthra senior partner Rajiv Luthra said, adding: “Entrepreneurial is something that is always worth looking at.”

Luthra & Luthra had announced the introduction of a modified equity sharing lockstep system in June 2009, which has been subject to delays amid an inability to agree on the best model and is still not implemented. However, management gave a draft presentation at the July partners’ meeting when fresher salaries were also increased.

Aneja had joined Luthra & Luthra in September 2009 during a time when a spate of partners and fee-earners also left FoxMandal, which had not paid staff salaries for several months. A number joined other firms and four partners started up SRGR Law Offices in December 2009.
