Link Legal has promoted senior associate Ajay Sawhney to partnership in its corporate and aviation practice and has hired a senior associate projects lawyer from in-house.

Sawhney had been with Link Legal for five years, having started his career with a senior counsel.

He told Legally India that he was excited about the opportunities in the practice areas and the growth at the firm.

Link Legal's co-founding and managing partner Atul Sharma said: "The firm now comprises of eight partners with five partners looking after the corporate practice and three partners overseeing the litigation practice of the firm from Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad offices."

Over the past year the firm has been restructuring its operations in the corporate and projects practice areas, encouraging partners from other sectors to also focus on that work.

It is understood that the restructuring and Sawhney's promotion are not related to the amicable departure of Link Legal's co-founder Munish Sharma, who joined Dua Associates early this year.

Link Legal has also hired former IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corporation Delhi regional legal head Anurag Dwivedi as a senior associate.

He will be specialising primarily in the projects field.

Link Legal is around 30 lawyers strong in total.
