Kochhar now one up after CAM raid with Jivesh Chandrayan joining as partner

Former JDS Law Chambers founding partner Jivesh Chandrayan merged his firm into Kochhar & Co and joined Kochhar as a partner in its Delhi corporate practice.

The Delhi university LLB and Cardiff University LLM graduate Chandrayan commented in Kochhar’s press release: “I am excited to be part of the Kochhar team and look forward to significantly contributing to the firm’s growth as part of the Corporate & M&A Practice Group.”

Kochhar & Co managing partner Rohit Kochhar commented: “His experience and impressive professional credentials will be invaluable to our accomplished corporate and commercial practice and will benefit our global clientele.”

After three Kochhar partners left the firm to join Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Kochhar hired banking partner Sumit Phatela in Gurgaon, Gaurav Chatterjee in real estate and litigation in Chennai, Prateush Sharma as indirect tax partner in Mumbai and Saloni Gupta as corporate partner in Delhi.

Kochhar is struggling in Mumbai atleast! Not sure what salaries the Associates get.

Except Bangalore and barring few Partners in Delhi Kochhar is struggling hard everywhere, i heard for Mumbai office that their survival is progress, Hyderabad all doomed after mass exodus of associates at all levels.

My small friend, you may be interested to know that many a times such are the 'business models' by intent! You may look at them with different perspective but the owner may have planned it! Got it, my truthful pupil?

As a client - I could not agree more. The quality of lawyers in Kochhar's Bangalore office is much better than the other offices of Kochhar. I have wondered why Stephen and Suhas have continued under the "Kochhar" branding. Both of them, in my view, are very good lawyers and could clearly flourish under any other brand.

If you measure people in terms of what they can make for you in terms of money only then you will lose the good ones. All these so called one proprietor firms are all the same.

Anybody has an idea how much does Associates, Senior Associates at Kochhar & Co, Delhi make?

Also, is there any so called 'discrimination' amongst corporate and litigation retainers?
