JSA’s Amitabh Kumar retires from firm

J Sagar Associates (JSA) partner, executive committee member and previous competition law practice co-chair Amitabh Kumar has left the firm after reaching the partnership deed’s retirement age of 65 today.

JSA competition partner Farhad Sorabjee will be chairing up the competition practice from now.

He had joined JSA as a senior advisor in 2010, having been the first director general at the Competition Commission of India (CCI) from 2004 to 2009.

Before that, the Mumbai University LLB graduate and Delhi School of Economics graduate had been an Indian Revenue Officer.

JSA confirmed his departure in a statement, noting that he had retired:

His contribution to both the firm’s overall growth and of the Competition Law practice in particular, has been invaluable over the years. His counsel and presence will be missed.

We have also reached out to him for comment.
