J Sagar Associates (JSA) Mumbai corporate partner Abeezar Faizullabhoy has left the firm from 1 April to join a Chennai-based ultra-mega power project as chief executive officer.

He would ultimately receive an equity stake in Aditya Resources DMCC, which is one of JSA’s clients, said recently designated JSA managing partner Berjis Desai.

Faizullabhoy was with JSA for 12 years and commented in a press release: “It was not an easy decision to give up on the best 12 years of my professional life that I enjoyed in JSA and while I leave to be on the other side of the table, I wish JSA all the very best for the future.”

He was not reachable for comment at the time of going to press.

His clients have been allocated to other existing JSA partners, stated the release.

Faizullabhoy has held directorships on the boards of Indian IT company Panoramic Universal, and multinational chemical maker Camlin Fine Chemicals, according to Reuters.

JSA promoted two retained partners to its de facto equity partner rank, alongside making up a bumper crop of 16 new retained partners, Legally India reported yesterday.

The Tamil Nadu utility - TANGEDCO - is notorious for not paying power producers, and is hundreds of crores in debt. No wonder Aditya Resources DMCC is hiring a lawyer as its CEO.
