IndusLaw partner Navin Syiem, who has left the firm in December of last year, is set to join L&L Partners we have reliably learnt.
The NLSIU Bangalore 2000 graduate specialises in corporate work and had been at Indus since 2016, having joined from HSA Advocates.
He will be joining with managing associate Nitin Gera and senior associate Shruti Barua.
Syiem has declined to comment since last month.
We have also reached out to IndusLaw and Luthra for comment.
Syiem’s arrival will no doubt be welcome to steady L&L’s fluctuating corporate partner numbers.
IndusLaw, of course, had hired much of L&L's capital markets team late last year.
While L&L had laterally hired as a partner into capital markets since, with Allen & Overy’s Singapore lawyer Jitesh Shahani, but had also lost corporate partners Alina Arora to a career break, and Aditya Periwal to AZB.
Update 16:42: L&L senior partner Mohit Saraf confirmed their joining and said: “With Navin’s extensive experience of two decades, gained both in India and overseas, we are confident that he will contribute in further growing the firm’s market leading corporate and M&A practice.
“The firm will continue to focus on bolstering it’s corporate and M&A practice through organic and inorganic growth.”
Update 16:36: Syiem commented: “It’s a great corporate practice with stellar M&A work and we are looking forward to being part of the L&L team and help grow the practice further.”
While he’s also done corporate finance and project finance work in his career, he specialises primarily in M&A transactional now. “That’s where the market’s been very robust: M&A, restructuring and a lot of foreign investment work,” he added.
Update 16:14: IndusLaw partner Gaurav Dani commented: “Wish him well!"
Syiem’s leaving Indus had first been reported by Bar & Bench.

Already out in B&B:-)
Still wish the new joiners all the very best !!
Work culture is way better than most firms.. its in fact something that the firm prides itself for.. and that's also the testimony of lawyers who have joined IndusLaw from other Tier 1/ Tier 2 firms.
Regarding number of lawyers.. the total headcount including partners is somewhere around 180-190.
