IndusLaw has hired Mayank Mishra as a disputes partner from J Sagar Associates (JSA) Delhi.
Mishra specialises in corporate and commercial litigation.
The 2004 NLIU Bhopal graduate had been at JSA since 2005 and was a salaried partner there. We have reached out to JSA for comment.
According to IndusLaw’s press release, he has particular experience in shareholder disputes, such as minority and protection actions, as well as contract enforcement, insolvency and disputes relating to other corporate transactions.
He has also done white collar crime and environmental law, and has “frequently” appeared before the National Company Law Tribunal, Appellate Tribunal, National Green Tribunal, high courts and the Supreme Court, as well as in commercial arbitrations in and outside India.
Indus co-founding partner Avimukt Dar commented: “Mayank adds depth and expertise which will significantly enhance our disputes practice.
“His induction will provide impetus to the firm’s international arbitration practice as well as our overall disputes practice, which now has 5 partners in Delhi and 11 partners all India representing clients across a wide spectrum of commercial and regulatory disputes.”
Mishra said in the release: “I thank the Indus Law partnership for reposing trust in me for reinforcing the disputes practice at Delhi.
“I look forward to work with the litigation team and other partners in growing the firm’s disputes practice.”

Not heard anything particularly bad about the work Atmosphere there - other than general law firm complaints
The only problem I see with JSA (and this applies across all their offices) is the general lack of application of mind/ law. They just bulldoze through a document, hardly negotiate on law, take odd (incorrect) legal positions, etc. They end up leaving such big gaps in the docs, I cant even begin to explain. I guess what I am trying to say is that its a quality issue. Please don't get me wrong, they have some very good lawyers - Katarki, Katta, Ganpati, Dar, Nag (lots more). But these guys can't be expected to look at each and every single doc, read every line.
In time the general lot at Indus will improve as well, like any other firm with the same trajectory (they are destined to make it to tier 1).
