Luthra & Luthra managing associate Ravisekhar Nair has replenished the ranks of Economic Laws Practice (ELP) competition team as an associate partner, after partner Samir Gandhi left ELP last month.

Nair had been at Luthra for seven years and had graduated from NLIU Bhopal in 2005, also completing a 2007 LLM in international trade and dispute resolution at the University of Queensland in Australia.

He specialises on competition investigations and inquiries before the CCI, according to a press release from ELP.

ELP partner Suhail Nathani said in the press release that the practice of competition law required lawyers who were “equally at ease appearing before the regulatory authorities, the appellate bodies and advising clients out of that experience”.

Luthra & Luthra said that as a policy the firm did not comment on the entry or exit of junior lawyers.

Last month ELP restructured its partnership to double the size of its equity partnership while promoting eight associate partners to the non-equity partnership.

Samir Gandhi was formerly ELP’s most senior competition law partner until he joined AZB & Partners in Delhi as the firm’s first full-time competition law partner.

Ravi has been undoubtedly one of the sharpest lawyers Luthra has witnessed recently. Whatever the competition law team of luthra has achieved over a brief period of time has been due to sincere and competent lawyers like Ravi.

Ravi will be missed a lot in Luthra. Hoping that they are able to find a good enough replacement.

Good Luck ravi for your future endeavours.

One more star performer leaves LL.

WHAT is going on over there? Why are their star performers leaving?

And since when is a Managing Associate a "junior lawyer"??

Congrats to Ravisekhar. Fully deserved. He has many talents that made him a favourite at Luthra and now ELP will reap the benefits.

Its unfortunate the firm was not able to manage a simple 'wish him all the best'. Makes you wonder if there was bad blood.

This culture of jumping from one firm to another as soon as an offer comes along is very sad. He ought to have considered the time his senior partners spent in grooming him to be what he is today. This is no way to repay them. ELP beware.

So if spending 7 years in a firm is not enough, then how many years do you suppose he should spend - 10-12? and how about the time he spent in developing the firm's brand new practice. there is no thought being put in trolling nowadays.

Hey Guys.. all this talk of Nair being Bhopal's finest and thebest at Luthra bewilders me [in light of] our brilliant alumni. I hve know personal animosity with Nair but wud only like to request ppl to refrain from making such grandioise claims without hvng any basis for the same. [...] @Kian... will u please publish this comment for the sake of free speech and preventing your forum for being used for publicity. Wud again reiterate it is nothing personal against Ravi it is rather directed against ppl who are misusing this forum.
