Kumar Visalaksh resigns, to take break

Economic Laws Practice (ELP) Delhi partner Kumar Visalaksh, who was heading the firm’s indirect tax advisory practice in Delhi resigned last week.

A Nalsar Hyderabad 2006 alumnus, Visalaksh began his career in 2006 with ELP Mumbai where he was also a part of the indirect tax pratice, and moved to Delhi in 2009 to build the practice in Delhi.

In indirect tax he focuses on customs, excise, service tax, VAT/CST, foreign trade policy and export control related matters and has been extensively associated with both advisory and litigation services for various Fortune 500 companies on indirect tax issues, according to the firm’s website.

He commented today that he was yet to decide his next move and was on a break.

He was the firm’s only partner for the indirect tax advisory practice in Delhi. The indirect tax advisory team has 10 lawyers in Delhi.

Update 22 May 2018, 14:56: ELP managing partner Suhail Naithani commented: “We don’t have office based heads of practice. Kumar is a valuable ELP alumni and friend and has not moved to any other firm or for his own practice - but for reasons that are personal which we respect.”
