DMD bags Bakers Singapore’s Sanjiv Malhotra as chief economist

BakerMacs’ director Sanjiv Malhotra moves to India & DMD

Singapore-based Baker & McKenzie director of economics and India group member Sanjiv Malhotra has joined DMD Advocates as senior director and chief economist in Delhi.

At Bakers he was also a part of its global transfer pricing steering committee, specialising in advising multinationals on tax and transfer pricing and structuring issues, as well as related dispute resolution.

Malhotra is a qualified chartered accountant with a 2004 two-year Masters in Business Economics from Delhi University (though he is not a lawyer - hence the non-partner designation at DMD, presumably).

DMD managing partner Anuradha Dutt commented in a statement: “We welcome Sanjiv to DMD. He brings in a unique global and Indian perspective and is a great addition to our tax practice.

“At DMD, we are entrusted by our clients to work on their most complex and high-stake matters. For this we need to attract the best talent in the market.”

Before joining Bakers in 2015, Malhotra had been at BMR Advisors for 10 years, leaving there as a partner.

From 2004 and 2005 he had worked at KPMG as a transfer pricing consultant.
