Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has “broad-based” its equity partnership, promoting partners Indranil Deshmukh, Shagoofa Khan, Rashmi Pradeep and Shishir Vayttaden to equity partnership (pictured from l to r above).

Indranil Deshmukh is in litigation.

Shagoofa Khan is head of funds, having joined in 2016 from IDFC Alternatives, shortly after the departure of equity and funds partner Ashwath Rau to AZB & Partners.

Rashmi Pradeep specialises in employment.

Shishir Vayttaden in corporate, M&A, having joined in 2014 from Luthra & Luthra.

Other partnership promotion are still expected.

According to an internal email sent last evening to the firm’s partners by managing partner Cyril Shroff:

As you are aware, the firm has for the past several weeks been conducting internal processes in relation to the broad-basing of the equity partnership of the firm. These processes included inter alia consultations with the existing equity partnership, REMCO deliberations and deliberations at the Core Advisory Group (CAG).

On behalf of the equity partnership of the firm, I am pleased to announce that the following individuals will be equity partners of the firm. The formalities for the above will be completed in the near future. We congratulate them on their induction.

In 2015, Cyril Amarchand had inducted the following seven to the equity of its new partnership, following the break-up of erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas:

  • Santosh Janakiram (projects, Mumbai)
  • Arjun Lall (corporate, PE & capital markets Bangalore)
  • Sharad Mathkar (litigation, Mumbai)
  • Shaneen Parikh (arbitration / disputes, Mumbai)
  • Amey Pathak (projects, Mumbai)
  • Nivedita Rao (corporate, M&A, Bangalore)
  • VP Singh (litigation, Mumbai).

Those were in addition to the pre-existing legacy equity partners at the time of Cyril and Vandana Shroff, S Bhojani, L Vishwanathan, Leena Chacko, Ashwath Rau (who has since left to join AZB & Partners), Yash Ashar, Tushar Mavani and Bangalore’s Reeba Chacko.

Some have since then also been hired into the equity partnership, such as Delhi head Percy Billimoria.

Its total partnership is more than 100 strong.

We have reached out to Shroff for comment.

Update 11:03: Cyril Shroff commented that he was “absolutely thrilled with this high quality induction of equity partners”, who are “top notch and embody the firms core values and ethos”.
