After three months of serving out his notice, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) Delhi partner Anuj Prasad will join national rival Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) as partner and the firm’s (first) head of its new aerospace and defence sector group.
Update 16 January 2020: According to a CAM press release, Prasad hsa joined as equity partner.
Prasad had been at erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas for the majority of his career, beginning there in 2006 from Dua Associates, where he had worked for five years after graduating from SLS Pune in 2001.
We understand that he will also be joined at CAM by Anandita Kaushik, who was a principal associate in his team at SAM.
As we had first reported, Prasad had resigned from SAM around mid-November 2019 for an unknown destination (though the market had been abuzz with that being CAM).
SAM had commented at the time that it would hold him to a three-month notice period, adding: “Anuj has been with us for over 13 years and we are thankful to him for his contribution to the success of our firm. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”
Update 16 January 2020: In a press release, CAM managing partner Cyril Shroff said: “We are delighted to have Anuj on board, given his rich sectoral expertise he would add immense value to the firm’s corporate practice.” Prasad added:
“I am delighted to be joining CAM and looking forward to contributing towards its future growth and tradition of outstanding client service.
More aggressive targeting of defence & aerospace
Officially, aerospace and defence will be a new sector group for CAM, we understand.
The aim of sector groups is primarily to more strategically target relationships and service clients in businesses in certain verticals, that can often span several other legal practice areas and departments but usually have their own niche concerns.
As such, sector groups generally aim to build stronger relationships with clients in a sector and attempt to improve partners’ understanding of such businesses’ concerns.
We have reached out to CAM and Prasad for comment and will update this story if we get more information.

If that is the indices for you to measure where you stand you have the wrong benchmarks or standards set for your brother. Compete with yourself and be happy for all.
Boom Shankar!
On a side note, titles are clearly the new "birkin" bags for senior lawyers in India to collect!
