AZB & Partners has hired Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) Mumbai partner Nikunj Maheshwari in its banking and finance practice.
He had resigned from in May and will be joining AZB with effect from 1 August.
The 2008 Symbiosis Pune graduate had worked at what-was-then Amarchand Mangaldas since 2012, and became partner in 2018.
We have reached out to Cyril Amarchand for comment.
Maheshwari had not responded to several requests for comment since last month.

By the way, he's a great senior to work with and one of the chilliest dudes I've met. Good luck with the new stint Nikunj :)
Viswanathan has sent his regards !
Banking regulatory work, FEMA, corporate insolvency matters, etc. are also handled by the 'banking' practice.
What on earth does “or an ex law firm teaching commercial laws with an accent in the law schools” even mean?
If banks want to boost PPOP in this environment they need to cap their cost/income ratios in the high 30's or low 40's at the most. That is harder to do if you have a slate of high cost in-house lawyers who then parcel everthing out to even higher cost law firms.
If you read Hitesh's comment carefully, hopefully you'll realise that there is really nothing that a competent GC can't get done in-house when it comes to this sort of vanilla banking work.
Secondly, the market (permitted products, market practices, level of client sophistication, etc.) is "lower" than, say, a London or a Hong Kong. So, we work with what we have. But it's a growing, evolving market. It's a great space to be in, either in practice or as in-house. Excellent growth opportunities, stability, etc.

Sad that they patched up things with you to include the deals in your league table but as far as information sharing is concerned, they don't even share that simultaneously with you.
