Vijay Pratap Singh Chauhan moves from Platinum to CAM
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) has hired Platinum Partners lawyer Vijay Pratap Singh Chauhan as a partner in its competition team, based in Delhi, according to the firm’s press release.
Managing partner Cyril Shroff commented in the release: “With Vijay joining us, we are looking forward to strengthening our competition/antitrust practice in Delhi region. His experience and depth will add immense value. We welcome Vijay on board.”
In the statement, Chauhan added that he would “look forward to working with the Firm and the Practice Leadership to develop a market leading competition / antitrust practice”.

Is he joining as a partner or PA? I guess it doesn't matter coz he will have to behave like a PA in CAM competition team to survive! All the best champ!
Having worked opposite him on a number of matters I can vouch for his excellent work product, attitude and for being a nice guy, great addition for CAM's team.
He has indeed. Someone remind us why vpc left Khaitan in the first place? A birdie says that the team he is joining now could have something (read everything) to do with it... True or False?
He has worked this team and apparently left Khaitan because of one of the fellow partner cum friend he is reuniting with. Advantage or disadvantage? Well... time will tell. Lol
The person he had a discord with at Khaitan is still there. He never had a discord with either Anshuman or Avaantika. If there was, why would he even consider moving?
He leaves in search of growth and development.. Platinum Delhi never lets anyone grow and as Freshfields work slows down, Platinum Delhi no longer has the juice..
Good luck Vijay. PP Delhi finding it difficult to retain lateral talent. Mid and senior level already wiped out now for a variety of reasons. If you act subservient to two partners, you can survive and sometimes thrive. Losing its niche and great working culture gradually. Broad basing of decision making and lesser micromanagement required. Managing partner overly reliant on one guy. Need to step out of the echo chamber.
Hope changes happen otherwise the firm will wither away once the managing partner retires (or even before!)
I have dealt with him on the opposite side on a number of matters, he is a [...] humble guy with a lot of clarity of thoughts, so can be a long term asset for CAM if they treat him well.
1-2 yr partners have a target of 3-4 Cr, they earn 1/3 of what they earn for the firm, this ranges from 75 lacs - 1 Cr, depending also on the practice area. This is true of all of the top 4- 5 sweatshops in India. Smaller firms may have lower targets.

Was an agent involved in fishing him out or did the team poach him directly?
