Mumbai corporate partner Dhruv Singhal, who had joined AZB & Partners with Ashwath Rau from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) in 2016, is set to leave the firm in the coming weeks.
He had resigned last week, which was first reported by Bar & Bench, and we understand that he will be released from AZB by the end of this month.
It is understood from market sources that he has several offers of places to join, but no firm decision has been made yet.
The 2007 NLSIU Bangalore graduate had begun his career at erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas and specialises in cross-border M&A and private equity work.
He had moved into Rau’s team at Amarchand in 2014.
Mumbai managing partner Zia Mody said she wished him well.
Rau said he echoed her sentiments: “He’s a good guy and I wish him all the best and hope he succeeds wherever he goes.
“It’s been a five year journey [with Singhal] and I hope it all works out for him.”
With Singhal, Rau’s core team had consisted of six partners.
Singhal confirmed his leaving, but declined to comment further.
