Algo Legal has added a partner in Mumbai by hiring former Veritas Legal senior associate, which he had left in November 2019, as a partner.
The 2006 Nalsar graduate specialises in corporate and M&A work and had been at Veritas for four years before nearly five years at AZB & Partners and three years at Wadia Ghandy.
According to his Algo firm profile, he has been involved in:
advising Matrix Partners on its investment in ANI Technologies (OLA Cabs); multiple large real estate investment transactions with deal value upward of $3bn and Cipla Group’s USD550m acquisition of two US-based companies, InvaGen Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Exelan Pharmaceuticals Inc.
In a statement, he Prasad said: “Algo’s work and mission of technological innovation in client servicing and solutions and internal management of processes combined with the energy and ambitions of its young team creates an exciting base for never ending demands of growth and efficiency in our legal industry.
“I believe this is a superb opportunity both professionally and for my own contribution to the firm and its team in its growth mission.”
Veritas Legal declined to comment when contacted.
Algo Legal has a total of 9 partners and 56 fee-earners across offices, with two partners based in Mumbai.

Quite surprised to hear that Veritas declined to comment. I would think that Abhijit, being a self proclaimed people person, would at least wish Siddharth luck in his new endeavour. If he didn’t want to do it, perhaps ask other partners to comment (and if required, review the comment before hand)?
Considering he quit in November 2019 and joined Algo in July 2020 i.e. over eight months since his departure why should Veritas be providing any comments especially considering person in question didnt inform Veritas about his decision to join Algo. Just like he had no obligation to inform his previous firm of his new plans, his previous firm has no obligation to provide any comments on his new role.
No obligation but courtesy demands that if an associate whose association with you goes quite far back, leaves your organisation and joins another (even if there be a gap of a couple of months), you would ordinarily wish him / her luck. Unless, of course, that person did not leave on good terms. Hence, surprising.
Congrats Brigy - You are a good lawyer and a nice human being - Looks like Algo is finally getting it's hiring in place with guys like Briggy and earlier Ankit - Cheers!

Much like all at Veritas didn't inform AZB they will be moving on? Double standards much??
Or is the truth that the Veritas partnership wanted to cosy up to Briggy till they thought he'd move in house, but the move to competition stung them?
