Luthra & Luthra has promoted two lawyers in Delhi to partner and elevated 9 associates to the senior and managing associate rungs, with corporate seeing more than half of the action.
Delhi managing associates Deepak Joyce in the corporate and M&A practice and Piyush Mishra in project finance and banking became partners, raising the total partnership numbers to 33.
Meanwhile, five Delhi senior associates were made managing associates: Aparna Mittal and Shishir Jose Vayttaden in corporate, Geeta Dhania in capital markets and Himanshu Bagai and Mohit Lahoty in in intellectual property (IP).
Corporate associates Anshul Jain and Khushi Mishra in Delhi and Vishal Yaduvanshi in Mumbai climbed the senior associate rung. Project finance associate Arvind Agrawal was also promoted to become senior associate.
Managing partner Rajiv Luthra (pictured) said that all promotions had been well-deserved. Commenting on six out of 11 promotions having been in the corporate practice, Luthra said that around 11 lawyers had also joined the firm’s contentious practices in the past half-year.
Luthra & Luthra has been looking to build up its corporate strength with a number of hires although in September corporate partner Vineet Aneja, who had only been with the firm for less than a year, joined ALMT Legal to set up its Delhi office.
Mumbai promotions would only be made in March or April of 2011, added Luthra.
The firm is yet to introduce its modified equity sharing system, which it had first announced in June 2009.
