Trilegal promotes two counsel but no partners ‘on track’ this year

Trilegal did not make any new partners this year but promoted senior associates Upasana Rao and Nitish Nair to counsel in Delhi. There were no counsel promotions in the Mumbai region.

Rao graduated from Symbiosis Pune in 2005 and worked at DSK Legal until leaving as a senior associate in 2008. She then obtained an LLM from King’s College London and joined Trilegal in December 2009.

Nair graduated from NLU Jodhpur in 2006, worked at Paras Kuhad & Associates until 2007 and joined Trilegal that year.

Rao and Nair focus on general corporate and M&A at the firm.

Trilegal Delhi now has 10 retainers as counsel – the level preceding partnership at the firm.

Delhi-based co-founding partner Anand Prasad told Legally India that no lawyers were on scheduled partnership track this year, “but we have people on track for next year”.

The firm converted to an near-full equity model after it and UK magic circle firm Allen & Overy ended their best friendship of five years in September 2012. Prasad said at the time that revenues at the firm had been increasing by 20 to 25 per cent year-on-year for several years, with a slightly lower annual growth in headcounts and total profits because of a larger cost base.
