Cronies posting lol
So much for business case
Vengeance will be mine!
You'll be broke and I'll have money
Will I help you? Don't be funny
Just you wait, henry higgins, just you wait
In my personal opinion, it's unethical and unprofessional. It should be firm's decision to decide on timing and contents of the release, should they decide to do a release. Besides, I am sure it would be in breach of most firm's IT and ethics policy.
I am surprised that you don't find anything wrong about this (with a smiley) considering that you otherwise seem to be a principled journalist :).
It's still a recognition of value because of everyone who wanted to be partner, these were the ones who were chosen. If the process was truly democratic and meritocratic, then these partners deserve all the congratulations they get.
There was a time when becoming a partner meant a certain level of skill, of knowledge and a reputation among clients and peers.
Now Look at these blokes. The best of them are average, they have no clients or any particular reputation. Till yesterday they were at their desks 10 hrs a day giving grief to an A0 or A1. And the worst of them would not get employment under an assumed name.
Pathetic. I think Kian is at fault for going overboard on these announcements that gives young lawyers the idea that this is something cool to aspire to.
You seem like a disgruntled Associate from a Tier 3 Law firm who has always had this secret ambition to make it in the BIG LEAGUE.
Alas, now you have made it big by calling names.
To each his own, the promotions are well deserved and the bunch from Mumbai Corporate had drifted(rather joined) just last year from JSA.
If they have made it big in a span of one year, then it really means something.
The 'blokes' you talk about have hardly crosssed the 'ripe' age of 35, while people just shy of touching 40 are cooling their heels being a Senior Associate. You can assume experience with age.
They have proved their mettle and righly belong here.
Is becoming a partner is a 'natural' progression / consequence of having "successfully undergone 7 years of suffering at a law firm. Last I checked it was based on ability, leadership, clientele. At least that's how it used to be till 2006-2007.
Somewhere after that the top firms lost the script and in a frenzy to boost partner numbers started to promote anything that could quack. I don't have to get into specifics but 75% of the "partners" made in the last 4-5 years are mediocre grad who are good for copy-paste, "will get back to you", rag-the-new-A0 and "battle for indemnity clause" types who are good pretty much for either carrying a laptop to a meeting or taking dictation or doing a copy-paste job. I don't think any objective person would put these duds in the same boat with Umakanth or Essaji.
