Khaitan Sud Partners teeters on edge of break-up along family lines

KSP may dissolve
KSP may dissolve

Khaitan Sud & Partners (KSP) is on the verge of a break-up with managing partner Umesh Khaitan, and his son and equity partner Ashutosh Khaitan having now rebranded to operate as Khaitan & Khaitan, according to authoritative sources.

KSP’s third equity partner Malini Sud started up Delhi-based law firm Capex Legal last year, while her son and KSP’s fourth equity partner Tanuj Sud continues to work from KSP’s second office, in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar, under the KSP brand name.

Tanuj Sud told Legally India that none of the firm’s equity partners had exited KSP’s partnership. He commented: “Nothing is agreed formally yet and I don’t think as a partnership, KSP is prepared to go public about this yet.”

Umesh Khaitan did not respond to calls and messages seeking comment since yesterday. The Khaitans will continue to operate Khaitan & Khaitan from Delhi’s Defence Colony – which was KSP’s office.

Malini Sud declined to comment since last year.

The Linkedin profile of one of the salaried partners part of the rebranded firm states that they are a partner in “Khaitan & Khaitan”.
