Khaitan & Co has promoted 10 lawyers to principal associate level and 27 to senior associate, in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
Six in Mumbai and four in Delhi were promoted to the principal associate level in Mumbai, which requires minimum post-qualification experience (PQE) of six years but is not automatic.
Progression to the principal associate rank is decided by the firm’s executive committee, assisted by human resources (HR), and takes into account legal acumen, as well as factors such as how much the associate has helped on business development, writing articles and training, internships and recruitment, and others.
A total of 27 were lifted into the senior associate designation, which is understood to generally be awarded around the four-year PQE mark, although some star performers might do it earlier.
No associates were promoted in Bangalore this year.
A total of 14 senior associates were designated in Mumbai, nine in Delhi and four in Kolkata.

Amarchand, AZB, JSA, Trilegal - the Indian Big Law Top 4!!
Quoting Top 4:
Earth calling Top 4!!
The threatening firms are Khaitan & Co and JSA who score higher client satisfaction scores. Khaitan in particular also received the second most mentions in terms of usage from the control group of 100 major purchasers interviewed. This increased scope of practice has taken Khaitan up to an equal second place position alongside AZB.
Quoting Top 4:
If you have been to any decent law school, let me give you an analogy. The better the professor was, the more they demanded out of their students and therefore, there grading was lesser than the not so accomplished professors (who were happy with less). AMSS and AZB have more sophisticated clients and are generally involved with big ticket matters and larger deals. They work with industry leaders and do more pathbreaking deals than the rest. So if you go and ask a link legal client, if they were satisfied, they not knowing better (i.e. having experience with better firms), would rate them high (similarly for the other smaller firms (not boutique) ). So the more the client is demanding, the lesser is the satisfaction ratings. This will tell you why an AMSS and AZB have similar satisfaction ratings as opposed to other firms.
So unless these rankings take such variables into account, it is not truly reflective of the capabilities and satisfaction ratings.
(a dumb students parents used to baato laddos in the entire village if they passed an exam but a topper got sanctioned for coming second).
Lol!! Its nice to see someone in jurassic world thinking Trilegal and jSa in top 4.
It should be AMSS, AZB, JSA, Khaitan, Luthra, rest
