Hammurabi Solomon, SS Rana and Karanjawala & Co won in each of the three finals of the Westlaw-Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) Cricket League on Saturday at Delhi’s Hamdard University, coming out on top of 20 other law firm teams to take home trophies.
In the cup league finals, in which the top teams emerging from the pool stages contested, Hammurabi Solomon won against Titus & Co after winning the toss and batting to a 144/7 score in 20 overs. Titus was bowled out at 109 runs in 18.3 overs.
Hammurabi’s Jitendra Kumar won the man of the match and man of the tournament award award for his 80 runs in 49 balls, also taking one wicket. The performance also granted him the “max sixes” award, while Rajnish from Hammurabi bagged the award for max wickets in a final match; Rajkamal from Titus won the best fielder of the match; and best bowler of cup league was given to Aditya Kumar.
In the plate league, which are the knock-out rounds for teams that didn't make it to the cup, SS Rana won against Khaitan Sud & Partners with 71 runs in 5.5 overs, winning by 9 wickets against Khaitan’s 70 runs in 19.3 overs. SS Rana’s Daman Ahuja was man of the match, while Mohsin Khan picked up the best bowler prize.
Khaitan Sud partner Tanuj Sud won the man of the tournament award.
Karanjawala won in the finals for the bowl against S&R, which is the third set of knock-out rounds, scoring 100 runs over 15.2 overs with 9 wickets, while S&R was bowled all out at 96 runs in 19.3 overs.
Samarjit Patnaik was man of the match for best bowling taking 4 wickets in 3.3 overs, giving up only 12 runs.
Correction: An earlier version of the story erroneously reported that the bowl was the top prize, when in fact it's the cup. The error is regretted and has been corrected.

"Hammurabi & Solomon and Titus & Co. fought for the top prize - the Cup League. Hammurabi & Solomon lifted the Cup League defeating Titus & Co. by 35 runs." - B&B
Is is what you call "pretty much identical stories" Mr Ganz?
Was under the impression that the bowl was the top prize. Will correct story - thanks for pointing out...
You may have realised by now, I'm not much of a sportsman... :)
CCP = cut, copy, paste, I guess, after considerable Googling. That doesn't even make any sense. You either cut or copy, and then paste, surely, not both.
Are you 100% positive the winning picture is of S&R? Was sent in the press release as a picture of the Bowl winners.
Now back to work (both of us)(
Fyi, CCP is quite an urban term, which anyone in drafting/writing business (from undergrad students to professionals) have been using in India for more than a decade - just ask Prachi. The double "C" is used to cover both cut-paste and copy-paste - perhaps a relic from the initial days of use of computers in drafting.
Btw, no offence intended. Just a heads up from a fan who is disappointed sometimes :)
In my defence, I just quoted kachwa-chaap, who him or herself said: "And just because I want to be an ass now...".
And to be fair, he was being a bit of an ass and to the best of my knowledge, every other website in this space would not even have published his or her comments but made a quiet correction instead.
A more friendly way for Kachwa-chaap to have pointed out the error would have been to simply say, "dude, you got the cups and the bowls mixed up".
Of course, ideally we'd never make errors. But since we are a tiny team at LI with a lot on our plate, errors do sometimes creep in. Nevertheless, errors are always embarrassing and I generally try to own up when we've made one and issue a prominent correction, if it's appropriate to do so in the case.
If in the process I can have some fun and indulge in a bit of lighthearted banter with someone who described him or herself a bit of an 'ass', I don't see any harm in it, particularly in a story about cricket that was admittedly a shoddy CCP job. :)
Ps: Here's a test that I think generally works quite well to evaluate whether you're being a bit of an ass or not:
www.currybet.net/cbet_blog/2011/09/news-websites-comments-golden-rule.php
Pps: Prachi didn't know what CCP was either, nor does Urban Dictionary (don't check the CCP urbandictionary definition at work :).
PS: If Prachi didn't know what CCP means, it reflects poorly on her general knowledge. Everyone learns the term in first year of lawschool.
Though generally I hope I do continue seeing the humorous side of things and not taking some of all this too seriously :)
ssrana - winner of cup (wrong - correct if hammurabi)
hammurabi - winner of plate (wrong - correct if ssrana)
karanjawala - winner of bowl (correct)
very poor reporting
even the picture at the top is not of the team that topped the tournament
for accuracy - refer to the Bar and Bench report
I agree, this was a terribly written story and all the errors in it are regretted.
That'll teach me to copy-paste press releases in future without applying mind at least a little bit, even if it is just a fluffy cricket tournament story.
The picture at the top was the best picture we were sent (see the amazing reflection in the bowl!), so we put that at the top, rather than another standard team photo.
Trust everything else is more or less as it should be in the story now.
its hammurabi which is the tournament topper
use the reference and pictures accordingly
pl don't make a joke out of yourself
thats not a cup - the top prize
why special preference to the bowl - any particular reason to give priority to a team which lost out to make it to the cup league
it should be H&S pic out there
Please refresh the comments thread and see my response to your comment above.
We picked the bowl picture because it was the most interesting picture out of the lot we were sent.

WHAT KIND OF A JOKE IS THIS ?
Quoting swati - hammurabi:
1. There is no need to post your comments 5 times each.
2. I honestly have no idea where you are reading that. Have you tried refreshing the page?
Best wishes,
Kian
This thread is hilarious and sad at the same time!! :)
Lawyers, Swati, please do some real work rather than cribbing here.
Cheers
then making another one
then perpetuating and posting guest comments making fun of firms which flag your mistakes
apart from allowing defamatory comments to be posted arising out of your mistakes, do you guys do anything worthwhile
Cheers,
Kian
Ps: I think Tuesday we'll try to focus on some stories other than lawyers-playing-cricket press releases...
now everything the kachwa cheap reporting says makes sense
I don't why you put up with them in the first place.
Annonymity and freedom of speech. A deadly combination!
The readers got glimpses of Kian's vulnerability.
