Finsec Law Advisors has hired Anil Choudhary from Trilegal as a senior associate to shore up its securities transactional practice.
Choudhary graduated from Harvard Law School’s LLM programme in 2010, joined Nishith Desai Associates (NDA) in January 2011 and was at Trilegal between July 2012 and May 2013. He had worked at Luthra & Luthra in Delhi after graduating from Nalsar Hyderabad in 2006. Choudhary is dual-qualified in New York and India. Trilegal was not reachable for comment at the time of going to press.
Finsec founder Sandeep Parekh said in a statement that Choudhary would substantially strengthen the firm’s financial sector transactional practice. In May, one Finsec partner and senior associate had joined IC Legal as partners.

Here are a few previous stories:

I saw this -ve to your post. And somehow my comp shows its me who clicked on the negative.
it was perhaps an inadvertent quick mouse move. When I wanted to remove the -ve, it is showing "voted!" and is not allowing me to remove the same.
maybe your website guy can look into it and allow people to change their mistaken votes ?
regards

Kian none of the stories referred to in the link (except the Finsec one) has been exclusively devoted to one senior associate appointment in a law firm. Stories are either covering appointments related to Counsel, Senior Consultants moves or clubbed stories of Senior Associate appointments/promotions of many firms taken together. Show us one exclusive story LI has done in the past regarding one SA appointment in a particular law firm. One can understand that if all Firms start sending you SA appointment news and you start publishing them, then LI will be flooded with such articles.

If firms start sending us associate hire announcements more regularly, I'm sure we'd be able to find a way to cover these effectively and interestingly...

Kian, all these 3 stories you have quoted were done in 2009 which is 4 years back. As a policy I knew that LI for all these years was not exclusively capturing SA appointment stories. Any reasons for breaking the trend.
In this case, in any case it would have been worth covering, since it is a small start-up that was recently in the news for people leaving, and that has hired someone at a senior level, irrespective of designation.
We'd love to cover more SA-related news - they are the backbone of most law firms after all - trouble is, law firms often don't want to publicise their associates too much, for fear of them getting poached or wanting more money or leaving to join a competitor. Associates, on the flipside, usually keep quiet unless told to speak by a partner...
but I think as part of journalistic procedure, especially in case of law firms, it would be prudent to ask about the shift to the law firm from where the person is shifting.
The most obvious and only answer is perhaps "all the best" but then as part of reporting procedure the same is to be asked.
here's my reply to dinesh
In truth (no, really), I am a lawyer who sits under an umbrella with an old godrej typewriter seeking hapless souls and getting their affidavit typed for Rs. 10 (per page) in the patiala house court complex.
am from a decent college and was a pretty decent in acads and was also a national level mooter, but am here. didn't choose to be. but hey, one has to earn. right ?
I have sent my resume to almost all the firms out there, but alas no one wanted me.
For me, trilegal/ finsec etc are all the same. Firms where I will never make it to. even if i feel that I was/ am good/ better than the lot there.
So, in short, no, I was not "eased" out of any place. because I never made it there. I just pointed out some journalistic practice. thats all.
as far as touchy/ feely type is concerned. Those feelings would come in an associate when he belongs to a firm. Me sir, belong to no firm, so I look at you "have alls" and rue my destiny.
In short, I have more things in life to worry about in the coming court holidays and lack of income thereof, than to be touchy feely about these things. Kian does a good job, and I pointed his journalistic ways.
Do you remember in college, there use to be a guy who would from a distance listen to all the conversation of hip and happening and enjoy listening and get entertained with a wry smile ? I am that kid "type", and legallyindia allows me to eavesdrop on these conversations of the "have-alls." Its fun in a way.
maybe when the courts are full of life in july, we can have a cup of tea at patiala house. (you pay)
Totally.
you fill timesheets on weekday afternoons ?
I just rue my destiny and feel jealous of the big bucks you guys make.
damn! so talented me, and sitting here in patiala house courts, under the delhi heat.
Wish I would fill those time sheets. work in the fancy offices. have a fancy phone. buy a big car. but no one wants me there. no contacts. no network. :-(
Cant even buy a chinese toy for my baby.
PS: notwithstanding that it may sound sarcastic, truth is, its not.
If LI start reporting on AMSS attrition and moves, they will have enough stories to report every month. You will get bored. Now, do you want that?
well, for starters it may the difference between being a big fish in a pond OR a small fish in an ocean...
Trilegal - Ocean? Ha ha ! Its a sinking ship in an ocean
New comments that actually add to the discussion will be posted.
First of all, for the record, our article is independent and LI is not conflicted.
Second, our jobs function is handled completely independently from editorial, so there's a separate team in charge of arranging job ads, or doing the active recruitment - please have a look here for more details:
www.legallyindia.com/Legally-Jobs/ask-us-anything-the-story-of-legally-jobs-and-how-to-get-a-law-job-without-an-uncle
Third, we will always operate by a principle of editorial independence when publishing stories. Since more and more law firms and organisations are using Legally Jobs, however, we have decided that there's no point in disclosing this blanket policy in every story about a firm that may have used Legally Jobs in the past or is currently using it in some way.
However, if Legally Jobs has been actively involved in a hire (i.e., Divya has been involved in the interviewing process of candidates, etc, and LJ is operating on a commission mandate for having placed that candidate), things should be a little different. If Legally India's editorial reports on this hire and is aware of Legally Jobs' involvement in the hire, then yes, we would disclose our interest, while also intending to report this story as neutrally as possible.
Hope that makes sense and is workable, though would welcome any further feedback.
Best wishes,
Kian
Good idea about formalising a Chinese Wall policy, we'll start looking into getting one drafted up.
Physical barriers won't be necessary since LI mostly operates in a virtual office... :)
