Cyril Shroff, the Mumbai-based managing partner of Amarchand Mangaldas, which is set to split in two between Cyril and his Delhi-based brother Shardul by 1 April, has finalised a lease in South Delhi’s Saket area, according to authoritative sources.
It is understood that the Mumbai side of the firm will open up an office on a floor in Saket’s Religare building, on Pt Trilok Chand Sharma Marg (formerly known as Press Enclave Marg).
The office will likely be inaugurated some time in April. The starting team will include local lateral hires as well as several lawyers from Mumbai.
Cyril Shroff was not reachable for comment.
The current Delhi office of the firm in the Okhla Industrial Estate, where Shardul Shroff is based, is approximately 9km away.
Legally India had reported late last month that both Delhi and Mumbai had now registered web domains and been given the green light by mediators to open up competing offices by 1 April, with Shardul in discussions to merge with Mumbai firms.
Mumbai region of the as-yet-still-combined Amarchand includes Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, while Delhi includes Kolkata, Gurgaon and Ahmedabad.

Wat 2 do????
We know you have the power to make 1,2 ka 4 and 4, 2 ka 1.
:D
He is Arsenal
2. Lord of the Amarchand
these would have been better sounding names!
Bangalore also in good shape.jatin Aneja is in charge . And will be south person for hildul.
Hildul and his team ( Jennifer ) are doing a town hall on Monday 16 th to unfold the plans for Sam from April .
Cam may have lease now but hildul is not lagging behind.
Btw is saket a good area ?
Saket is a decent area. And if this Building they are taking up as their office is the same buildinv I have in mind. Then It's a good area. Better than Okhla. There's a huge mall adjacent to the building. All in all its a gud place. But the area across the road is bad. Known as Khidaki Village :p
Of course that will mean diddly squat to SAM/ CAM or any of these other mowlers.
What happened to Bharucha or almt merger talks ? Still on? Abhijit Joshi ?
Anyone moving from delhi? Naval ?
The nation needs to know !!!
Also more about recruitment please. Know of many lawyers who are looking to switch to sam-mum and cam-del.
Can someone confirm if KCo really is, at this moment, the highest paying Firm in the country, at least as far as salaries of fresh graduates is concerned?
I say, Hildul be the shizz.
Hildul is a numbers guy and won't make crazy decisions. Starting small for few years is good and mature. Hildul is no fool.
Split will be officially told to delhi partners . Finallyyyyyy!!!!!
After the whole world knows it
Hope SSS alias hildul gives the entire picture at the meeting on Tuesday . Or we are leaving in April . We need to know right now what the truth is . From the horses mouth or we will vote with our feet . And take our teams and clients with us.
Other delhi partners please join in. And raise your voice . NOW .
P.S. If partners at Amarchand had any clout, they would not be treated like doormats. Partners who
are treated like familymatter have been given all the info. Big guns like Madhurima Mukherjee, Rahul Guptan, Bharucha etc. departed without creating much dent; so save the threat of leaving with clients. LOL.Read the court papers instead and if you still want to be with CSS and didn't take the warnings of Bharucha then you deserve your fate!
GUYS AT DELHI GO TO SOMEONE WHO CARES AND RESPECT YOU GUYS
SHARDUL AND PALLAVI DONT CARE ABOUT LOYALITY, THEY GIVE A DAMM. ACCHE DIN NAVAL CHOPRA KE
CYRIL ON THE OTHER HAND KEEP S ALL PARTNERS IN THE LOOP OR INFORM THEM.
I have no doubt that you are aware of the new hires by CAM. Why you no report? Waiting for official confirmation?
Curious George
But obviously, everyone is keeping things very hush-hush right now, so things are hard to confirm. See Gossip girl's comment below also...
Personally, it would be a big factor to incline myself to choose KCo over the others.
Btw does anyone know if hildul is going to hold a partner meeting at all? And if so when? Oracle what are your views on hiring by hildul ? Has he got anyone at all? Market rumour is that nobody is closing with him . For obvious reasons . Abhijit fell through. Radhika pereira also fell through. All capital market hires said no thanks. Wadia also declined. Not a soul wants to join hildul Oracle please enlighten us you seem to know everything . And will surely know this
Rather enjoy the money. And relaxxxxxx
Also, I don't have any view on whether Pallavi and Shardul (i.e. a wealthy Indian family) feel that Naval should be their successor or not, my observation was on the views of the commentators. I believe Shweta and Naval are both good lawyers so I can’t understand why every single comment (to all articles) I have read about a leadership position in the firm / inheritance has always said that things will go to Naval!
Making a personal attack against me (probably because I am based in London) is a bit strange – I think you are missing the point Country “Girl” (really?). I am no less patriotic about India than you are; but that doesn't mean I won’t express my allegedly “hypocritical and self-righteous comments” rather than “live with it” like you. Wow, that’s some angst you feel about my comment!
