Amarchand Mangaldas has hired Tatva Legal Hyderabad partner Rahul Sarella in the city, replacing Anshuman Jaiswal who is relocating to the firm’s Mumbai office.
Sarella, graduated from NLSIU Bangalore, has worked at Wadia Ghandy for seven years in Mumbai, set up KSB Partners’ Mumbai office for four-and-a-half years, and was a partner at Tatva Legal most recently.
Sarella, who is also a Chevening Scholar, works across M&A and corporate, private equity and capital markets and managing litigation.
Tatva co-founding partner Shishir Sharma commented: “Rahul has worked with us for little over a year, he was looking after our litigation in Hyderabad. We wish him well – he wanted to do something different.”
Sharma added that the firm had also hired a senior litigator from Delhi who would join the Hyderabad office in August, and noted that at three partners and 24 lawyers, headed by co-founding partner Shailendra Komatreddy, Tatva’s Hyderabad office was already the largest practice in the city.
Sarella replaces Amarchand Hyderabad partner Anshuman Jaiswal, who has moved to Mumbai into the firm’s corporate practice there.
Mumbai managing partner Cyril Shroff said in a press release that Sarella would help the firm service clients based in the South and particularly Hyderabad.
“Equally I am happy to see Anshuman joining our M&A team at Mumbai which will definitely increase our Partner bandwidth here,” he added.
Amarchand promoted 13 to its partnership earlier this month and with Sarella now stands at 85 partners.
