Sankalp Dalal, the legal head of Times Music, will be joining Zee Music as its new legal head from August.

He said that the current team at Zee Music was around one or two lawyers at present, but that he intended to grow this to around five lawyers.

“Over the past two to three years, Zee Music has really stepped up its acquisition of Bollywood Music and become one of top two music labels,” he added.

After joining, he would focus on ensuring that all the acquisition and licensing at Zee Music was done properly, he said.

Sankalp had joined Times Music in July 2015 from Naik Naik & Co, where he as a senior associate.

After graduating from Symbiosis law school in 2007 and obtaining an LLM in intellectual property from The George Washington University Law School in 2008, he joined Dewey & LeBoeuf as a legal intern for 10 months, followed by four-and-a-half-years at Mason & Associates as an IP attorney, before joining Naik.
