Tanmay Amar joins Omidyar as GC

Sequoia Capital legal counsel Tanmay Amar will join as India general counsel (GC) Omidyar Networks, the “philanthropic investment firm” started by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar in 2004, according to sources with knowledge of his move.

We have reached out to Amar and Omidyar’s press office for comment.

Amar graduated from NLSIU Bangalore in 2006, after which he joined Luthra & Luthra.

He left Luthra as a managing associate in 2013 when he joined Sequoia Capital as legal counsel in Bangalore.

Previous Omidyar India GC Karthik Mahalingam had left in April to join Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas in Bangalore, after having joined Omidyar in 2011 from erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas’ Hyderabad office.
