Bangalore-based director legal at top venture capital (VC) fund Sequoia Capital, Sandeep Kapoor, will be leaving the firm, probably by the end of this month, according to authoritative sources.
We understand that Sequoia vice president legal, Siddharth V Rao is set to take over the legal director role from Kapoor. Rao is a 2006 Nalsar Hyderabad graduate who had been at Sequoia since 2015, after a one year stint at Platinum Partners from 2014 to 2015. Before that he was at Themis Associates, a consultant at Ashoka, manager at Samhita Social Ventures and an associate for three years at Wadia Ghandy & Co until 2009.
We have not been able to confirm where Kapoor will be moving at this time, who declined to comment when contacted.
Sequoia is one of India’s busiest VC players and in his time there since 2010 Kapoor has grown the legal team to around five lawyers.
He is also hugely “passionate” about legal technology, having integrated artificial intelligence / machine learning tools into Sequoia’s investment process.
Before joining Sequoia in 2010, he was working as GC South Asia at computer chips giant Intel and senior attorney South Asia for Intel Capital.
Previously he had also worked with Vaish Associates and Luthra & Luthra in Delhi.
He is a 1996 Delhi University LLB graduate, who is also a qualified company secretary. He had started his career in-house at Ranbaxy.

Just wanted to know when you post articles on twitter, then why dont you use hashtags. In fact there are no popular hashtags for indian judiciary or law firm culture. Let me know if possible. Its actually very difficult to curate articles for reading.
Thanks
In any case, in line with our usual takedown and moderation policy, after the comment was reported and no evidence had been offered in support of whatever argument it was making, we took it down (although I'm not sure how any evidence could have been proffered, since its point was so oblique?).
