Pre-IPO Zomato drafts Luthra’s Damini Bhalla as its GC

Bhalla joins Zomato
Bhalla joins Zomato

L&L Partner Damini Bhalla, who we had reported last week had resigned from the firm, is joining rapidly-growing food delivery unicorn Zomato as its general counsel (GC).

She replaces GT Thomas Phillippe who had joined in 2018 and left in June 2020.

Zomato is understood to have a legal team of around seven at the moment.

The company and Bhalla declined to comment, but a Zomato spokesperson confirmed her joining.

Zomato has most recently regularly instructed IndusLaw on its fundraisings, but has also previously worked with Samvad Partners and Trilegal.

The leading food delivery company has been widely reported to be eyeing an initial public offering (IPO) this year to raise up to $1bn, so Bhalla’s role is set to no doubt be a busy one.
