Ali, an Osmania University LLB, BCom and qualified company secretary, had previously worked at a number of companies, including at Deloitte between 2005 and 2014 in Hyderabad as associate vice president and head legal and company secretary.

In 2016 he had joined US-headquartered biopharmaceutical services giant Parexel International as senior director and India general counsel.

KKR had bought a 60% stake in Ramky in 2018 for $530m, with Link Legal India Law Services having advised the company and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas having represented KKR.

The company is present in 60 locations globally and offers solutions and consulting relating to managing and processing hazardous, municipal, biomedical and e-waste as well as recycling of paper, plastics and chemicals.

It also has interests in renewable energy generation, particularly with respect to converting waste to energy.
