Former LafargeHolcim India country head legal and secretarial, Ajai Jain, has joined Godrej & Boyce as senior vice president and general counsel (GC) in a new role, earlier this month.

Godrej & Boyce manufacturers consumer electrical and other equipment, with annual revenues upwards of $1bn.

Jain is a qualified company secretary and holds a law degree from Mumbai University.

From 1984 to 1997 he had worked at Mikado Textile Ind, Universal Cans & Cont and Ashok Silk Mills. In 1997, he became Monsanto India in-house lawyer until 2007.

From 2007 to 2013 he was vice president legal and company secretary at Siemens, before moving to Lafarge in 2013.

He declined to comment when contacted.

Jain succeeds Nilanjan Sinha at the company, who was head of corporate advisory and has since joined ICICI Bank as its GC, while Citibank India GC Pramod Rao is due to head up ICICI Group’s legal function.
