HCL Infosystems general counsel Rajeev Choubey has joined cement giant LafargeHolcim’s Indian unit ACC Cement as general counsel yesterday.
A 1999 Delhi University alumnus, Choubey was legal head at Vedanta until 2016, after having been at the company and Sterlite Industries for 10 years. He’s also had stints with Maruti Suzuki and the government of Uttar Pradesh.
He had joined HCL as GC two years ago.
At HCL he was based in Delhi and with the move to ACC he has moved to Mumbai, he told us yesterday but could not comment further.
ACC is a 30 million tonne cement player which achieved 126% profit-increase in 2017 and predicted an even better outlook this year due to the increased outlay on infrastructure development including roads, railways, highways and irrigation projects and sharp focus on affordable housing segment, reported the Economic Times.
Ambuja Cement, the other LafargeHolcim India unit that holds majority share in ACC, was going to merge with ACC but that merger has been put on hold.
