Mumbai-based Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas corporate and infrastructure projects partner Alice George will be joining Essar Ports as general counsel (GC), we have reliably learned.
Essar Ports operates terminals at Hazira and Salaya in Gujarat, and ports in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam and Paradip in Odisha.
George, a 1998 NLSIU Bangalore graduate, had become a partner at CAM (or Amarchand Mangaldas’ Mumbai office, as it then was) back in 2011, after having joined the firm in 2006.
She specialises in projects, infrastructure financing, outbound acquisitions and equity investments, particularly in the infrastructure space such as roads, ports and telecoms, according to her firm profile.
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas managing partner Cyril Shroff commented: “Alice moves in-house to a big client of the firm with our blessings.
“We wish her the very best.”
We have reached out to George for comment.
Update 19:58: She commented that she had had an “exceptional working experience at CAM and will always hold that dear.”

a client of the firm must know the lawyer in the firm well to absorb as GC. GC is a lot more responsibility than a secondee.
We guess she's got her reasons so we just don't wanna know
'Cause for almost ten years we've enjoyed working well with Alice.....
For almost ten years we've been working side by side...
She a wonderful person with nothing to hide...
Now we've gotta get used to not working so close with Alice
ALICE ALICE... ALL THE BEST ALICE!!
Wish you all the best dear friend! May success be on you wherever you go,
