Titus & Co and Kochhar & Co have defeated semi-finalists Amarchand Mangaldas and Luthra & Luthra respectively to face off against each other in the finals for the Turf Twenty20 Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) Cup.

The much anticipated clash of the cricket titans is slated to take place this Saturday (15 January 2011) after completion of nearly two months of exciting weekend matches, which started between 16 law firms competing for the coveted champions’ title.

Last year’s tournament defending champions Titus & Co came down heavily on opponents Amarchand in the second innings with the display of their bowling strength and restricted Amarchand’s run rate as they failed to notch up the required winning score of 143 runs.

Team Amarchand fielded first with good performances from its bowlers restricting Titus’ total to 143 with even Titus star-batsman Saurabh Anand not crossing the half-century mark.

However, team Titus got its act together as players Prashant Chauhan and Sunil struck three wickets each giving away only 38 runs in total. An overall good batting and bowling order saved the day for Titus and team Amarchand went all out after chasing 127 runs in 19.1 overs.

Saurabh Anand from Titus lifted the man of the match title for scoring the highest runs. Other high scorers were Praveen Nagar (33 runs) and Ishan Verma (38 runs) from Titus and Jai Mohan (34 runs) and Varun Bajaj (16 runs) from Amarchand.

The other explosive semi-final match played between Luthra & Luthra and Kochhar & Co ended-up in Luthra’s crashing defeat. Kochhar’s ace-bowler Sultan Ansari knocked down five of Luthra’s wickets, which managed to bat just 15 overs before being all out for a meagre 73 runs.

A low-score costly first innings that had already compounded problems for Luthra gave a massive competitive advantage to rival Kochhars and helped the team breeze easily away to the finals with 74 runs in 15.3 overs.

Kochhar player Sultan Ansari who took down five wickets in four overs bowled giving away only three runs befittingly earned match of the man award. He also had two maiden wickets to his credit.
