Hufriz Wadia moves to AZB banking in Mumbai from Kochhar Chennai corp

Kochhar & Co Chennai-based partner Hufriz Wadia has joined AZB & Partners as counsel in Mumbai on 16 October.

Wadia will be joining co-founding partner Bahram Vakil’s banking and finance team and will also be focusing on insolvency and bankruptcy. Vakil commented: “Delighted to have Hufriz on board especially for our finance & IBC practice.”

She commented: “I just wanted to come back into banking and have always looked up to Zia and Bahram. Insolvency and bankruptcy is the perfect balance of the varied areas of practice I have done.”

At Kochhar she had worked in the corporate practice group for three years.

A KC Law College 2002 alumnus, Wadia had joined Kochhar in Chennai in January 2014 after resigning from the partnership of Juris Corp where she was the firm’s only resource in Chennai.

She had joined Juris Corp for around 10 months after returning to India after five years of working in banking at Dubai law firm Al Tamimi & Co.
