13,000 to take second All India Bar Exam on 24 July, says BCI

The Bar Council of India (BCI) said today that over 13,000 candidates applied to take the second All India Bar Exam (AIBE), which is set to take place on 24 July after it was postponed by a month in May.

BCI chairman and solicitor general Gopal Subramanium said in a statement released on the BCI website today that preparatory materials had been dispatched to “over 13000 applicants for the AIBE”, with admit cards set to be dispatched on 13 July 2011.

The exam would take place on 24 July between 11:30 am until 3 pm.

More than 5,600 candidates out of 19,800 failed the first AIBE of 6 March 2011 but today’s BCI statement did not explain how many of the 13,000 applicants for the second exam were retaking the first test.

The registration deadline for the second exam was 24 June.

According to the BCI, a list of 300 applications that were completed incorrectly have been published on the BCI website. Those candidates could still provide correct their application by 10 July in time for the 24 July AIBE, according to the BCI.

I am disappointed to have read Law in India. The truth remains that though I believe in my own capacity and abilities to argue and think like a lawyer, I cant fetch a nice decent job and move out of my parents home. My sin - I am not blessed with the usual industry jacks. My friends with half a dozen backs (though not judging on that basis) are getting paid 70k plus a month while I am made to negotiate for 12k per month. Its not that I care all for money, but cant deny its worth, isnt it? What about the moots I won, being a batch topper of my NLU batch? Why I am being wronged? Now I cant even sit for the Bar as my college is not yet 'ready' with the certificates. Yes, I cant afford going for an LLM abroad, but why don't they hire on merit and internships blah blah blah. The world is not fair, heard it and feeling it. Will just try keep walking. You Beware.

I guess he made it clear to have got some job offers ("while I am made to negotiate for 12k per month"), which would be below standard. And these days there are more than one batch topper you see courtesy CGPA scores. Seems CNLU story

FYI toppers from recent NLSIU, NALSAR and NUJS batches have worked for 15K a month for senior advocates. These people earn crores but pay jack sh**t to juniors and then give gyan about how foreign lawyers will exploit people and should not be allowed in.

Mr Pandey...thats y i do not happily accept the 'NLU breed concept' they r so trained that they hardly ny time to get educated. And i guess by now u should v understood that m not a person that u shld 'DUDE' me. No hard feelings. All i want to say is using restricted language and reading ur books plus having a watchful eye to whats happening around,is what u shld adhere to. Can anyone give an approximate figure of how many graduates emerge each year from our myriad law schools?

Some if not all of the 5,600 who failed last year must be trying again. Does that mean only between 7,400 and 13,000 fresh graduates (low and high figures) are attempting the exam this year? What about the rest.

It would be interesting if statistics for the pass percentage in the Bar exam for students from each school were published. This in due course would be an indicator of the standard of education provided by each school.

Those schools which have an unacceptable pass percentage (say below 70% or even 80%) should be barred from taking new students they achieve the requisite standard.. If are unable to reach the standard by the time their last batch graduates, they should be closed, either permanently or for a fixed period before they can reapply for accreditation.

Hey , those who obtained 'Law Degree' in Mid-July 2011 were eligible for this AIBE Bar Exam?

I am afraid i missed to register for it... If so, when is next Exam?? Bar Council Ppl Do Not Reply... :( HELP....
