Trilegal, CAM help government restructure, sell hydropower cos THDC, Neepco to NTPC for Rs 11,500 cr

NEW DELHI : India’s largest power generation utility—NTPC Ltd—-on Thursday announced the Rs 11,500 crore acquisition of hydropower firms THDC India Ltd and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (Neepco), as part of one of the government’s largest asset-sale exercises.


Trilegal advised the Government of India‘s Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) led by a team of partner Ramakant Rai, counsel Romit Dey, senior associate Shradha Sachdev, and senior associate Dhritiman Roy, and associates Mehak Suri, Athira Palangat and Ravin Kapur together with a competition team of partner Soumya Hariharan, senior associate Nandita Sahai.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas advised NTPC Ltd, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited.

Deloitte was the transaction advisor to the GoI for the THDC transaction.

RBSA Advisors was the transaction adviser to the GoI or the NEEPCO transaction.
