Poovayya for Edvista early-stage investor Jupiter Cap on Acadgild $10m ed-tech co Aeon buy

Acadgild, the Bengaluru-based online education startup operated by Edvista Education Services has recently been acquired by Aeon Learning in an all-stock deal amounting to Rs 64 crores ($10m) as reported by VC Circle and Mint. Acadgild focuses on online degrees and skill development programmes in big data, deep learning and UI/UX design web development, among others and had raised initial investment from venture capital firm Jupiter Capital and K. Ganesh of GrowthStory.

Poovayya & Co advised acted for Jupiter Capital, an early stage investor in Edvista Education Services and was led by led by partner Siddhartha George along with principal associates Sunita Kamath and Priyanka Shreni.

Aeon Learning which operates education technology platform Avagmah was founded by Karthik, who had previously co-founded 24×7 Learning and is backed by investors like Meena Ganesh, Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, Aptech and Hexaware founder Atul Nishar and Lion Rock Capital founding partner, Srihari Kumar. It was also reported that the acquisition will help Aeon Learning target much larger market segments including short-term courses for professionals and offer them the opportunity to shape the future of the global workforce to produce readily deployable skilled talent. Post the acquisition Acadgild co-founder Vikalp Jain shall be joining AEON Learning as president.
