Jerome Merchant + P, Platinum on global ad giant GroupM acquisition of Indian creative agency The Glitch

WPP-owned global media investment group, GroupM, has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority stake in the digitally-led creative agency, The Glitch, for an undisclosed sum, expanding into the technology driven communications market in India, reported Mint and The Economic Times. Post the acquisition, the independent digital creative agency will continue to operate as an independently positioned brand.

Jerome Merchant + Partners advised Glitch Media and its founders in the acquisition and was led by Mumbai partner Shameek Ray.

Platinum Partners represented advertising giant and GroupM owner WPP, with a team led by Delhi partner Anuj Bhatia and associate Sanjana Bhatnagar.

With over 240 employees in its offices based in Mumbai and Delhi, Glitch Media offers digital, planning and content services and has delivered award winning campaigns for brands like Unilever, Netflix, OYO Rooms, Shutterstock, and Tinder. It was also reported that the current acquisition is expected to help The Glitch craft more insightful and effective campaigns for brands and help close the loop with a superior understanding of content and creative strategy to serve today’s economy taking advantage of GroupM’s larger infrastructure and agency ecosystem while strengthening GroupM’s growth plans by offering its clients access to a wide portfolio of digital marketing services and content solutions.
