Indus, SAM Cal on Emami buy of 30% stake in Helios Lifestyle-owned The Man Company

Kolkata-based FMCG major Emami has announced the acquisition of a 30% stake in Helios Lifestyle, owners of the premium male grooming brand The Man Company, for an undisclosed amount, as reported by The Economic Times and MoneyControl. The acquisition of the stake is said to be completed by 31 December 2018 through the infusion of required funds in Helios.

IndusLaw advised and acted for Helios Lifestyle and was led by Mumbai partner Avimukt Dar, principal associate Divya Varghese and associates Shaima Khan and Suvarna Swain.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas advised Emami in the deal, represented by its Kolkata-based team led by partner Sakshi Mehra, principal associate Victor Mukherjee and associate Dipayan Bhattacherjee.

The acquisition is also reported to be significant for Emami as it marks its entry in the fast-growing online male grooming segment. Emami is currently present in the male grooming segment through its two brands, Fair and Handsome and HE.
