CAM for Amazon with Indus, Anoma, Burgeon on $20m buy of retail-tech startup Perpule PoS

In an attempt to step up its game in the Kirana-tech space, American ecommerce giant Amazon has acquired Bengaluru-based retail tech startup Perpule for INR 107.6 Cr (about $14.5 Mn). The overall deal value is pegged at INR 150 Cr ($20 Mn) as Amazon is expected to pay additional remuneration to Perpule’s employees as per two individuals aware of the discussions.

IndusLaw advised Perpule led by a team of partner Pallavi Kanakagiri, and associate Pavani Nath. The tax team comprised of executive director Ritesh Kumar S and associate Akshat Mittal.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas advised Amazon in the deal and was represented by partner Arun Prabhu and principal associate Anirban Mohapatra.

Anoma Legal acted as the legal counsel to existing investors of Perpule Seabright III, Kalaari Capital Partners, K Start, and KS Advisors, led by partner Abhinav Singh and senior associate Keertan Sreekumar.

Burgeon Law represented the other Perpule investor VH Capital, led by senior associate Zeni Arora.
