Amarchand, Vaish cement Jaypee UltraTech $600m ties

Amarchand Mangaldas advised UltraTech Cement in acquiring Jaypee Cement Corporation’s Gujarat unit for Rs 3,800 crore ($602m). Jaypee was advised by Vaish Associates.

Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai managing partner Cyril Shroff, corporate partners Tushar Mavani and Alice George, competition partner Nisha Kaur Uberoi and litigation partner Sharad Mathkar acted for UltraTech.

Vaish Associates partners Bomi Daruwala and Martand Singh acted for Jaypee.

It is legally mandatory for a part of the deal to be carried out through share issuance because the sale will happen after the Gujarat unit is separated from Jaypee. Out of the total deal value, around Rs 2,000 crore will therefore be paid by way of bank loans while the rest is loaned to the company by related parties, including parent Jaiprakash Associates, which will be issued shares, reported Mint.

Ignorant fool obviously there were associates from the 3 practices highlighted on this deal. Only partner names are reported perhaps, does strike you is it...Many firms I think have this policy including Khaitan etc

You obviously missed the sarcasm, child. Of course there were associates, but their names were not reported!

If you check previous deal-reports involving the firm, perhaps you'll realize that associate names have been reported on smaller deals. As regards firms which may have a policy as you suggest, it is a policy that reflects poor taste and a small mindset. Poor policies lead to loss of talent, which - based on comments on some stories - seems to be the case with Luthra.

It's ok. This is not a film where you have to acknowledge everyone in the opening scrolls. It's business reporting and they've taken that call. Get over it.

Ha ha - you think you said something funny, eh? Bird-brain! People like you always miss the bigger picture and think this kind of $hi+ is okay.
