Amarchand, S&R, CB + Links, Slaughters, SH land Piramal’s $460m buy of Vodafone Essar stake

Exclusive: S&R Associates is advising Vodafone Group on its disposal of 5.5 per cent of the shares in Vodafone Essar for $640m to Piramal Healthcare, which is relying on Amarchand Mangaldas as lead adviser with Linklaters and Slaughter and May, as well as Crawford Bayley and Stephenson Harwood.

S&R partners Rajat Sethi and Niti Dixit, together with associates Venkatesh Vijayaraghavan, Zehra Khan and Dhruv Nath are representing Vodafone Group, whose share sale will dilute its holding in Vodafone Essar to 69.5 per cent reported the Deal Curry.

Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai partners Cyril Shroff and Leena Chacko are leading the Indian legal team advising Piramal.

Linklaters and Slaughter and May have been drafted in to advise Vodafone on English law advice. Linklaters partner Toby Grimstone and associate Alexander Premont led the advice.

Stephenson Harwood London partner Andrew Edge is understood to also be assisting his long-standing client Piramal with partner Nick Avery on a number of English law issues. Piramal has also taken advice on ancillary legal issues from Crawford Bayley partners RA Shah and Sanjay Buch and associate partner Krishna Venkat.
