Amarchand Mangaldas, DLA lay out German Villeroy & Boch India JV

Amarchand Mangaldas and DLA Piper advised German luxury tableware and ceramics brand Villeroy & Boch (V&B) in forming a 50:50 joint venture with Delhi-based Genesis Luxury Fashion to develop its existing retail network in India.

DLA Piper Hamburg corporate partner Dr Benjamin Parameswaran, Munich and Brussels litigation partner Dr Daniel Sharma and associates Sebastian Decker and Christopher Albien, and Amarchand Delhi partner Vidyut Gulati acted for V&B.

“The retail sector is a main driver of the growing Indian economy and increasingly in the focus of foreign investors,” commented Parameswaran in a press release, which added that starting in Mumbai, V&B aimed to open 16 flagship stores by 2018.

In June the German company received Foreign Investment Promotion Board approval to invest Rs 1.12 crore in its India venture, as reported by Mint.
