Themis, Luthra, Tamara Thompson, DST on $34m Craftsvilla round

Themis Partners advised Sequioa on its $34m (Rs 220.39 crore) co-infusion in ethnic handicrafts website Craftsvilla. The other investors in this round were Lightspeed Venture Partners advised by Luthra & Luthra, Global Founders Capital advised by Tamara Thompson , Nexus and Apolleto which was advised by US based firms Tamara Thompson and DST Global services.

Themis principal associate Ashwani Verma, senior associate Dheeraj Khanna and associates Rayan Azmi and Abhishek Dwivedi acted for Sequoia.

Luthra partners Deepak Joyce and Shinoj Koshy with managing associate Neha Sinha and associate Akansha Dalal advised Lightspeed.

Earlier this year Craftsvilla had rasied $1.5m from Lightspeed and Nexus, as reported by Medianama.

Sequioa bahut hi saste ho gaye hai it seems. Neither did Sequioa require a partner on this deal, nor did a Themis partner consider it worth his name to be associated with this Sequioa investment....

Two Luthra partners advising on the deal an existing investor that the new one is ok when the firm Themis advising the new investor has not even deputed a partner ?

Isn't Sequoia quite well known for handling the majority in-house anyway and not paying very high fees?

If so, they probably would not want a partner on their deal...

My friend, you clearly are not seeing this right. Either you handle it in-house, fully, or at least have a partner for the name of it.

It is pretty well known that Sequoia in-house works very closely with Themis. Very likely that the in-house legal team was heading the deal which was supported by Themis. Good to see Themis doing well, even after Sidd Nair/Roshan Thomas and their teams moved out. Kudos.

Focus on your career, which anyways is not long lasting rather than figuring out the fees. Seriously no job left or what, or probably your firm is not giving you much work.
